How We Grow

MicroBite Farms was founded in 2022 in Broadway, Virginia, with the goal of becoming the number one supplier of fresh, high quality microgreens in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding regions.

At MicroBite Farms, our top priorities are customer satisfaction and food safety.  These priorities are completely intertwined, and we ensure their success through our strict quality control processes and our detailed standard operating procedures.

Quality Control

When we harvest our greens, we ensure that the final product that our customers receive is of the highest quality.  Some examples of our quality control processes include sifting through harvested produce to ensure a complete absence of pests and foreign objects and discarding trays that may become overrun with fungus.  For varieties of microgreens with larger seed hulls like sunflower shoots, we also aim to remove the vast majority of hulls so that you don't have to.  It's a labor of love, but it's all worth it in the end.

Food Safety

In this industry, there's not much that's more important than food safety.  In addition to compliance with all VDACS (Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services) rules and regulations, we go the extra mile to make sure that our customers receive a final product that is free of bacteria and/or food borne diseases.  We have strict standard operating procedures that spell out all cleaning processes from sowing to harvest.  We use food-grade hydrogen peroxide and plenty of airflow throughout the growing cycle to prevent mold and kill bacteria.
